8 Lessons Of life
The 8 lessons of life that many people think and also I think that should be taught in school over the years of their school careers. These 8 lessons of life are things that will help kids and even young adults be successful in their life. The life lesson are, ALWAYS BE COMPLETELY HONEST WITH YOURSELF – AND OTHERS, GRADES AND AWARDS AREN’T EVERYTHING, FIND A CAREER OR A JOB THAT YOU LOVE, DON’T BE AFRAID TO LOOK STUPID, STEER CLEAR OF DEBT, NOBODY OWES YOU ANYTHING, A FRIEND INDEED, and ALWAYS EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED.
The life lesson “always be completely honest with yourself and others”, to me means that you as a person should be honest no matter what the cost or consequence is, because in the end telling the truth about something is ALWAYS better than lying about it. The article says “Honesty, so they say, is the best quality – and it is, even if being honest means taking a risk.” What they mean in this quote when they say “even if being honest means taking a risk.” That means that by telling the truth your taking a risk to the person that you’re telling the truth to, because the person that you tell the truth to might get really upset and blow up on you or the person might be really glad and happy that you told them the truth.
The lesson “grades and awards aren’t everything” is a good one to have in mind when your that type of person that always has to be first. Not necessarily in school but in like sports or other things. When it comes to school it’s alright but in the end “none of those baubles mean anything to anyone else out in the big bad world.”, says that author. What she says is important is “that you know what it takes to achieve those grades and that you take that hard work ethic into other areas of your life.” I agree with this. This to me is a really good thing to learn as a life lesson. This lesson tells people that even though getting awards is nice, what really matters is that you know what it takes to get those awards and that you now the proper work ethic to get those awards and achieve later in life.
“Find a career or job that you love”. This is one of the most important lessons to learn when you’re choosing a career or in school for your career. If you don’t choose a career that you love to do, then you’ll never be happy because you’ll be stuck doing the same thing every day that you don’t like to do, and nobody likes to do stuff they don’t want to do. They say in the article “You will spend a lot of time at work in the course of your life, so, it is important to be happy in what you do.” I personally think that this is important to the people in the work world and to people deciding what they want to do. This lesson teaches me that no matter what you do, try to find a career that makes you happy because if you love your job then to me it’s not really a job. Now is it?
“Don’t be afraid to look stupid”. This is a life lesson that I learned in about 4th grade. This to me is very important. I’ve learned not to care if I look stupid in front of people, because I’ve learned that it takes more energy out of you to worry about not looking stupid then to just not care. I also don’t really care what the people around me think, cause that’s what’s they think. She says “Are you afraid to ask questions because you worry you’re going to look stupid? ... And you’re only going to look even more stupid if you’re not willing to ask a question, even if the answer seems obvious.” This means that if you don’t understand something, then ask a question! Who cares how stupid it is, least you know the answer now, and in all honesty there was someone else in your class that had the same question.
“Stay Clear Of debt” She says “Don’t be enticed by banks that look cuddly and friendly when offering you cheap loans and credit cards because all they care about is making money.” This quote tells us to not spend more than we earn. They also tell us to not get pulled into all the deals that sound too good to be true that the banks put out because most likely they are to good to be true and will put you in some type of debt.
“Nobody Owes You Anything” The article says “One of the life lessons they should teach in school will tell you that you can have these things but only if you work hard. No one will hand you anything on a plate.” This to me means that you have to work for what you want, nothing comes free. You can’t have everything handed to you on a silver platter. The quote means that people work for what they want and they earn what they get.
“Always Expect The Unexpected” This life lesson always keeps you on your toes. It gets you to the point where life can never throw you a curve ball. You’re always one step ahead of what’s coming next. The Author says “Go ahead and make plans but be ready for them not to work out as anticipated – or not to work out at all.”
