Are Cell Phones Safe Or Harmful?
On CNN.Com there is an article that talks about whether or not cell phones are safe to have close to your body.
In the video “Are cell phones safe?”, Dr.Sanjay Gupta/ Chief of Neurosurgery at Grady Memorial says “ That the cell phone radiation causes a sort of heating up of the brain….” This statement tells us that cell phones can be harmful, they say it’s not enough to do anything in just one use, but over time people could see the effects of this radiation. The Federal Communications Division says that cell phones are safe, that the radiation that comes from the phone is not harmful. But some doctors say otherwise. In the video they say that "the percentage of the effects of cell phone radiation happening to any one person is very slim." I personally think that the radiation in cell phones is so minimal that we will never have to worry about any of the effects that are supposed to come with the radiation. I've used a cell phone since in the 6th grade and I haven't had any side effects or anything else that come with the supposed risks of using a cellphone.
Dr.Sanjay Gupta says “The World Health Organization has labeled phones as a possible carcinogen” That means that their saying cell phones are cancer causing agents, and that it puts them in the same cancer causing risk with led paint and diesel fuel exhaust. They say that the radiation in phones is more affective to kids because of how thin their skulls are. The video says that "there have been very few cases, almost none, concerning cellphone cancer diagnosis..." In another article, they say that kids are more susceptible to the side effects because of their thin skulls but it is still unlikely. They say that the recommended age for kids to use cellphones is "11 to 12 years of age", so that's there skulls can develop more and be more protected.
